I was born in the Fiji Islands and 1 of 4 girls to a family of 7, my mother made all our dresses or they came from America, I was always sewing or doing embroidery.
I made my first wedding dress for a client at the age of 15, I remember it well it was a satin brocade with leg-of-mutton sleeves, very 1970's!
A year at Bourvile School of Art introduced me to Textile Design, Fabric Design and texture.
After which I enrolled on a 3 year course of Fashion Design at Loughborough University, this involved Pattern Cutting, Designing for all Occasions, and figure shaping and sizing.
I have worked freelance and have been self-employed for many years, made many wedding dresses including my own ( as pictured) which I incorporated Vintage hand couched lace with fine pin tucks ( synonymous to me) which I have used on many of my designs from wedding dresses to bridesmaids, page boys and Christening gowns.
My work involves fine detailed work with silk chiffons, silk and satins, with beadwork. Complementing accessories from Fascinaters, bags and jewellery, all to complete an overall look for any occasion.
